I have to thank my friend Joey for the inspiration on this post. Like him I do not like the excessive use of AutoTune for musical entertainment. The earlier concept of the talkbox as used by Peter Frampton et al was cool at the time, but got old after a while.
The current use in music by "singers" who lack the talent to really sing is to put it blankly, unacceptable. But the use of it on scientists to put across a concept that might otherwise be missed is admirable. Here is just a sampling of the work done by melodysheep without which this post would not exist.
We Are All Connected
"We Are All Connected" was made from sampling Carl Sagan's Cosmos, The History Channel's Universe series, Richard Feynman's 1983 interviews, Neil deGrasse Tyson's cosmic sermon, and Bill Nye's Eyes of Nye Series, plus added visuals from The Elegant Universe (NOVA), Stephen Hawking's Universe, Cosmos, the Powers of 10, and more. It is a tribute to great minds of science, intended to spread scientific knowledge and philosophy through the medium of music.
The Poetry of Reality
The Poetry of Reality is the fifth installment in the Symphony of Science music video series. It features 12 scientists and science enthusiasts, including Michael Shermer, Jacob Bronowski, Carl Sagan, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Richard Dawkins, Jill Tarter, Lawrence Krauss, Richard Feynman, Brian Greene, Stephen Hawking, Carolyn Porco, and PZ Myers, promoting science through words of wisdom.
