Birdy

Birdy is the pseudonym of Jasmine Van den Bogaerde, a British singer-songwriter. In 2011, at the age of 14, she released a cover version of the Bon Iver song “Skinny Love”, which reached #17 on the UK Singles Chart.

According to the Skinny Love Songfacts, after she won the under 18s category of the UK talent contest UK Idol at the age of 12, Jasmine was quickly offered a publishing contract by Good Soldier Songs Ltd, run by Christian Tattersfield, chairman of Warner Bros. Music UK.

Birdy now has an amazing album of "covers", but not your run of the mill "pop covers" these are more often than not obscure album tracks by lesser known artists. But they are all good songs and deserve the attention. Birdy's versions are generally stripped down to the bare bones, which makes them all the more attractive. Warning, listening to this album could break your heart. That's how plaintive this young ladies sound is. Amazing, go find the album.
