a Jigsaw

I stumbled across a Jigsaw an Americana band and really enjoyed their music, and was a little surprised to find out they were from Portugal. Listen to these first two videos and tell me whether they sound like they come from this side of the pond or not.

The first track, The Strangest Friends, is from their new album Drunken Sailors and Happy Pirates. And it sounds like it should be on such a named album. Very evocative of old time shanties with an updated rhythm.

Art vs Science

Earlier today there was The Hundred Days, and they led me to Art vs Science who have been here before. And they, of course, are still producing brilliant music and videos.

What's the connection between the two bands? They have toured together before, and they are doing some gigs together in Canada very very soon. I'm thinking it would be an awesome night to hear both of them together.

Hey, and Art vs Science like Abbe May, awesome they are smart too.

The Hundred Days

The Hundred Days is a new band, to me, and I am really digging their album. Really! Yup, that's what it's called, Really.
In addition to having a great sound, they have brilliant videos.
And of course they are local boys, The Hundred Days hail from San Francisco and they are:
Jon Smith - Vocals
Jimmy Chen - Guitars/Keyboards
Brett Zadlo - Bass
Colin Crosskill - Drums

Still trying to pin down the sound, but I really, really like it. Really.
