For her forthcoming, Fol Chen-produced long-player, Silver Silver, Hawaii-born, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter (and Honest Jon's Revue alumnus!) Simone White switched gears: gone are the whispered, acoustic-based numbers that her early output and in their place sits a set of lush, bedroom R&B backdrops just as engrossing. [Spin]And for me this album is one of the most appealing albums Simone White has made.
Not that I didn't like the others, this one is just so much more.
Check it out and see if you don't agree.

I Didn't Have a Summer Romance
We've known Simone for years -- someone we met during the Venice hey day (for us at least) -- so she was a natural fit for a session. Usually we've seen her play solo, but she mixed it up for the occasion and brought a full band to play along. A mishmash of musicians from the Simone circle of friends -- from the bassist for Wedding Present to the guitarist in Fol Chen -- oh and don't forget the kissing couple in this tune. Those kids could really make out. (I fed them some mango mimosas to get them in the mood). [Wilcox Sessions]Simone White - Vocals, Guitar bass:
Terry De Castro (The Wedding Present) saxophone:
Joe Dolman electric guitar:
Samuel Bing (Fol Chen) percussion:
Adam Yasmin
Kristel Kovner and AJ Blum as the Make Out Couple
Back to the new album, Silver Silver, this is the first track. Not much of a video, but great music.
Interesting album cover.
