Nowadays the cable channels have the best series, and the best series seem to have a stranglehold on great opening themes. So I figured I might string a few together for comparison purposes.
First up the great new HBO series, Luck, starring Dustin Hoffman and Dennis Farina. In addition it features on of my favorite English character actors, Ian Hart, who was so good as the schizophrenic paparazzo Don Konkey in the FX series Dirt in 2007 and 2008.

Next up the classic Justified, starring the ever great Timothy Olyphant and a cast to die for. Everyone seems perfect for their part.

Another of my favorites is the great Sons of Anarchy, again a terrific cast and this last season was one of the best. FX is doing themselves proud.

One of the best surprises in TV series was the US version of Shameless. The US has a bad record at Americanization of British sit-coms. But this one is perfect, maybe because again a wonderful cast. William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum, come on. Amazing.
